The Queen Sonja International Music Competition takes place in Oslo from 16 to 23 August. It is open to all, and the winners will be awarded prestigious concert engagements with major Norwegian music institutions.
28/11/2006 :: The Queen Sonja International Music Competition, which is a cooperation project between the Norwegian National Opera, the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra, the Norwegian Academy of Music and Rikskonsertene, takes place every second year. It has developed into an important national and international event in the music world since its launch in 1988. It is being held for the tenth time in 2007.
The singing competition is aimed at highly proficient singers. The winners will be offered concert engagements with institutions such as the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, the Norwegian Radio Orchestra, the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra, the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra and the Trondheim Symphony Orchestra. The German tenor Daniel Behle won first prize in the 2005 competition.
The Queen Sonja International Music Competition is open to all singers born after 1 January 1975. The application deadline is 15 March 2007.
