The Norwegian Deputy Minister of Petroleum and Energy, Liv Monica Stubholt, met with her Nigerian counterpart the Minister of State for Energy (Petroleum), Mr. Odein Ajumogobia, in Abuja on October 29, 2007. The purpose of their meeting was to exchange views with regard to the world energy market, national challenges in the petroleum sector and the bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

On the Norwegian side met representatives from the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Petroleum Directorate (NPD), the Petroleum Safety Authority, Norad, StatoilHydro, Intsok and the Norwegian Embassy, and on the Nigerian side representatives from the Ministry of Energy, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Environment, Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR), Petroleum Technology Development Fund and NEITI.
The two Ministers agreed to put more focus on environmental protection and revenue management in the continued cooperation. All parties to the meeting were very satisfied with the discussions held and the exchange of information given during the meeting. The Nigerian counterpart had put a lot of effort into the preparations and the conduct of the meeting, for which the Norwegian delegation was very thankful.
